Rescue
Several years ago we were at the Jack
Russell trials in upper Ohio and were approached by the rescue
person for Ohio. She was affiliated with the JRTCA , an
organization that registers the long-legged Jack Russells. We spoke
with her about how the rescue programs work and volunteered to be a
foster home for unwanted or needy Jack Russells.
Well.... that was the beginning of a
lifelong project. We started with one female Jack that day and
have placed over 2000 other Jack Russells since then.
This is how it works...
Sometimes people buy puppies on a whim
and have no idea what they are getting in to. They buy because they
are cute and 6 months later they are tired of the responsibility and
want to get rid of them. That's why we rescue. We take those dogs
in, evaluate them, work on bad habits, spay/neuter, update shots and
find appropriate homes for them to move to. Now, sometimes they are
brought in for other reasons, like a death of an owner, allergies,
new baby, relocation, new job hours - no time for the dog, etc.,
etc., etc.
There are a lot of legitimate reasons
why you can't keep a dog, but sometimes it is just a lack of
responsibility. At any cost, we take them in for whatever reason.
If the dog was not brought in for
aggression we start looking for a home that matches that dogs needs
and screen new owners so that this is the last home for the dog. If
we do not find a home right away, they stay here on our farm and
become part of the Claddagh family. We do not euthanize or turn any
dogs into shelters. We are the last stop if they do not find an
adoptive family.
You can call or e-mail us about our
program and take a look at some of our current rescues up for
adoption. If you are interested we'd be happy to talk with you..

Rescues are
$200 FOR ADULTS AND $250 FOR PUPPIES. They have
had their shots, wormed, started on heartworm prevention. Adults have
been neutered and spayed.
Smooth
coat 5 year old male. Very sweet, very quiet and very loving.
Two new adults, between 2 and 4 years old
coming in this week....let me know if you are looking. Pics
soon!!!
I am finding over the past year or
so that not as many people want to do a rescue. A lot of my
inquiries are people who want a purebred dog, cheap. That is
not what rescue is about. They are purebred and the adoptions
fee is minimal, but if you do not want to give a forever home
to a dog in need, don't call me.
If
you are looking for a rescue and can provide a permanent, loving
home, send me an e-mail or give me a call. I would love to
talk with you.
Thanks,
