About Us
Claddagh Kennels were built with a dream in mind. A dream that
the true since of the Claddagh would be carried out. Love, loyalty and
friendship. In the world we live in now, you don't find many people who
are loyal, loving and committed to being a friend. On our farm, we
raise Irish and English short-legged Jack Russells. They are truly loving, loyal
and very friendly. Never meet a stranger. They adapt to all loving
families and are calm and obedient.
We have built a quaint little farm in
the country in Southern Ohio. Our farm is set up specifically for our
dogs. They are a huge part of our family, not the family pet in the
backyard. Our dogs have the same accommodations as the humans do
here: heat and air conditioning, comfortable beds, the best food, one
- on - one socialization, family trips, walks in the woods, swimming
in the pool or the creek, etc. THE GOOD LIFE!
We have South African, English and
Irish lines. . Our family of
breeding dogs come from bloodlines in Ireland and England
that have a proven temperament for family living. We only
breed dogs with genetic excellence, outstanding calm temperaments
and above-average health. We still have a brother and
sister in Ireland and one in England and I enjoy going home to see
them and bringing home new babies to the states. My husband
and his family raised Jacks way back in the 60's and have enjoyed
them everyday since. We have some really wonderful, healthy,
calm lines and are very happy to share them with our new families.
We try to educate people about puppy mills, pet stores and backyard
breeders. If you have questions about any of the above, please
feel free to call or write me.
Our little guys are well-suited for
children, cats, traveling, senior citizens, therapy programs, and
are adaptable to most loving homes.
This is one of our customers. She found
her new best friend at Claddagh Jacks. All of our babies are
very calm. Her husband is pictured below. They came back this
summer and got their second little Claddagh girl.
You can bring anyone on to our farm and immediately you
have found furry friends. When we started breeding here in the states
we heard the word "hyper" every time you mentioned the word Jack
Russell, so we set out to dispel that myth. We have devoted our lives
to raising our dogs like we do our children; with love, discipline and
respect for others. Thus, we help you with training tips and
consultation for the life of the puppy. We want you to enjoy your new
friend to the fullest extent.
We would love for you to stop by and
visit our farm and have a Jack Russell Experience, the
Irish/American way.
We deliver every litter of pups born
here, we make them a part of our life the minute they are born. They
are handled by adults and children alike and socialized with people
and animals from day one. Our puppies will get along with cats and
children. You cannot breed out bad habits, that is why we have
introduced the bloodlines that we have, to get that more amenable
disposition. They will thrive on a large farm or an apartment as long
as they are able to get exercise. We have sold numerous dogs to
retired couples who travel with them everywhere.
We do not sell to breeders so we may
preserve our bloodlines and keep them pure. We do not sell to anyone
who wants a backyard dog, only house companions. We do not believe in
dogs being tied out on chains or runs. We also are not looking to
place our pups with "Bargain shoppers". It takes several dollars to
raise puppies properly and this is a lifelong investment. The old
saying is - "you get what you pay for".
We do not import dogs and sell them.
We raise ALL of our dogs here on the farm. We very
seldom buy puppies but occasionally will seek out a new line.
We go to great lengths to find superior quality, temperament and
conformation. You can find really nice looking puppies
sometimes, but we do our homework so we bring in great temperament,
exceptional health and the quality that we want to pass on.
Now lets talk breeders:
I truly believe there are enough families
to go with all the lovely Jack Russells that breeders across America
are producing. There is no need for breeders to be so
cut-throat with each other. If you are dealing with or considering a
breeder who spends their time bashing other breeders or writing
negative things about others, then don't give them the satisfaction
of your time. Not all breeders do the right thing, just like
all other areas of life, but a wise, concerned human looking for a
puppy can determine whether someone is a good breeder or not without
someone else telling them. Ethics tell you, do unto
others...do not deal with someone who devotes their time to talking
bad about others. If you find someone talking bad about other
breeders, feel free to call me and I will put that person on my
prayer list.
I am not a competitive person, at all.
Please do not call us and ask about other breeders. There are
some really good breeders out there, just do your homework. We
welcome visitors here to see how our dogs live. We will not
breeder bash or even comment on other breeders dogs unless I know
for sure they have great puppies and then I'll recommend them to you
if I don't have what you are looking for. Life is too short to
worry about other people's business and my blessings have always
came by how I treat other people. We are Jack Russell
breeders because we love our babies. My children have grown up
and I am enjoying my grandchildren and raising my Jacks.
If you live too far to come to our farm,
we will ship under proper conditions to the nearest airport to your
home. We'll discuss this with you at the time you pick out your
puppy.
We send our puppies home with their food,
training tips, toys, health guarantee, health records and a friendship
to you and your puppy. We recommend obedience training if possible.
We also offer a lifetime place of return. If for any reason you
cannot keep the dog after you take him home, we ask that you bring
them back to us. We are very particular where our babies live and
offer you a permanent retreat if your circumstances change for any
reason.
Also, visit our RESCUE page and take a
look at the Jack Russells up for adoption. Most of these guys
are previously owned by people whose circumstances have changed.
I could write a book about the thousands of reasons we hear when
people turn their dogs in. We evaluate each dog; spay and neuter, update
vaccinations, and prepare them for a permanent home. We charge
a nominal fee to cover expenses. Click on rescue and read all
about our rescue program. We have placed over 1700 Jack Russells in permanent homes
after being turned into rescue. Give us a call and come to visit us anytime
to see our new additions or just to chat!
